throughout high school i had great friends and i love them still but i never knew community with them. fall semester of last year as i got to know my small group and i quickly began to learn what community looks like. community that loves you and encourages you and is intentional with you. community that you can sit and talk with and also have so much fun with.
then spring semester rolled around and i was finally able to go to quest on wednesdays. and then i began to feel even more sense of community. every week i got to sit in the young life house with 70 something other people my age who love jesus and desire to tell lost high school kids about a god that loves them and the grace he has to offer. and i think i learned more about grace through the community i found in quest. its a good thing. to have community like that.
then i got placed as a young life leader and i met my team. i have such great love for my team. this group of people that i get to do ministry with. that i get to meet with and talk and pray with. pray for hardin valley and for our high school friends and for club and for each other. we get to do life together and im thankful for that. this community keeps growing and i love that. i have my small group, my quest class, my team, and knoxville young life leadership. this huge group of people here in town that i find community in. this huge group of people that all have the same desire in our hearts to love on high school kids. and this huge group of people that i get to meet with twice a month for fellowship and worship. and laughter. so much laughter.
im so thankful for community. community that pushes me closer to jesus and makes me want to be more like him. community that loves me and encourages me and pursues my heart. and community that makes me laugh. thats a big one.
im thankful for my small group. for steph who devotes so much time in her busy life to lead our small group. im thankful for kim, rebecca, brooke, taylor, courtney, cayce, stephanie, jane, maelena and audrey. im thankful for the friendships i have made through leadership. taylor who has quickly become one of my very best friends. im thankful for chris who stepped up and leads our team at hardin valley and his heart for high school kids. im thankful for my other teammates erica, becca, andrea, joel, hannah, michael, laura, robert, anne, rachel, maddie, holly and daniel. im thankful for neely and brandon. im thankful for friends like meredith who encourages me with her sweet words even if she doesnt realize it. im thankful for the knoxville young life staff. they are such a picture of community and christlike friendships. im just really thankful for the community i have found through young life and the people i get to do life with. i have found community and my heart is full.
