work crew.

i got to spend last weekend at my very favorite place: sharptop cove. and i got to spend it with some of my greatest friends serving on work crew. and it was awesome. most of the group were servers in the dining hall but me and a few others were am cooks. we had to be in the kitchen by 7am but we were so happy to be there that is was just fine. cooking at a young life camp is like nothing i have ever done. i mean we are cooking for 500+ people. first thing we made was pancakes...i have never seen so many in my life.
i know every time i talk about young life camp i say it is the closest place to heaven. and every time i go to a yl camp i believe that even more. especially this weekend because we were tucked away in the mountains and surrounded my trees which were all changing beautiful colors and the weather was just perfect. i had the sweetest time serving and spending time with my friends. we worked a lot but our work crew bosses were great to let us go to club with the campers and gave us saturday afternoon for free time. it was so nice. there was only about 10 or so of us from knoxville and we all just sat in a big circle by the pool and talked and laughed. and i needed the weekend. i needed to be away from knoxville and away from reality & spend a weekend in the bubble that is young life camp. for every weekend camp the speaker talks about jesus + the cross on saturday night. i have heard this talk countless times. but this weekend for some reason it just about knocked me to the ground. it was good. really good. and i needed it. im thankful for a weekend where i not only got to serve but i got to be reminded and refreshed and restored.
